My Mom

We had a wonderful visit with my mom.  It wasn't long enough!  The day she flew home I think I cried myself to sleep.  And then cried the next day too.  I think it takes a really good cry after such a wonderful visit to be able to get back to normal.  We miss my parents so much!!

What we did:

Read tons of books

Decorated Cookies

Did homeschool

Did Grandma Class - she taught the kids about Oranges and Giraffes 

Made Valentines cards

Played!!!!

Cooked

Slept

Shopped

My mom rubbed my feet!!!

My mom pampered me

Gave lots of hugs and kisses

Did family Bible time with my mom

Prayed

Went for a walk

Watched two John Wayne Westerns from the 1930's after the kids were in bed

TALKED!!! 

And more that I probably can't think of.  

I sure can't wait till March when my dad and my mom both come for a visit!!

Umbrella

 This week we are learning about umbrellas for our Grandma Class. Today was the perfect day for it too.  Lot's of rain.  Although we did learn that the first umbrella was not designed for rain, but for the sun to shade people.  Lulu has a parasol that was my great-great grandmothers.

 This morning the kids has a fun package on the front step that my mom left for them.  This is what was in it. 

 While the kids were enjoying their fun treats I was reading them some fun facts about umbrellas.

 We made umbrellas out of oranges and pretzel sticks.

Then the kids decorated a picture of an umbrella.  Levi colored his and Lulu cut out pieces of paper and glued them to her umbrella.

Thanks Mother!  They love it.



Penguins

This week we are learning about PENGUINS!

 This morning at the front door was a package from my mom with all these penguin things in it.  A book about penguins, pictures of real penguins, fun facts about penguins, activity sheets of penguins, songs about penguins and even Safeway's brand of Oreo cookies called Tuxedos with a penguin on it.  And a can of albacore for lunch today since penguins eat fish. 

My mom is amazing! 

So to add to the fun we made a penguin snack.  This was so fun and actually very tasty. The kids devoured them all. 

 Mark and I got 1 each out of the ten I made.

 This is all you need to make your very own penguins to eat.  It seemed tedious but it wasn't too hard to do and went really quick.
