Redmond, WA 2013 - Part 1

When we arrived at my parents house we walked into the house and saw this sweet welcome sign.  I have the kids make welcome signs for my parents when they visit so my mom surprised us with one.
We planned this trip and spent 12 days with my parents.  We didn't do much.  We were busy but not busy....if that make sense.  It was perfect.  We didn't plan much so we could just enjoy whatever came up.  We spent most of our time on the front porch and in the yard.  The weather was perfect.
 The kids played and played.
Mark brought work and also took some time off to relax.....here is Mark relaxing.  LOL.  He found a project to work on.
Mark was looking forward to getting his 65' beetle up and running again.  We left it behind when we moved because we were towing our trailer then.  We have since sold our trailer and now could tow the beetle back.  It started right up after sitting all winter and spring.  Now we have a second vehicle again.
Silas had a great time relaxing and enjoying his first time to Washington.
My dad had a hip replacement surgery the week we arrived.  He had his surgery on Monday and we drove in Tuesday evening.  He came home around noon on Wednesday.  We were all so excited to see him.  As we drove in Tuesday evening we drove past the hospital he was at and I called him.....we honked and waved as we drove by.  I wanted to pull off the freeway so bad to see him.  It was hard to drive on by.  But thankfully we got to see him the next day.
Lulu was so happy to serve and help Papa.
Silas was spoiled and Papa got to enjoy holding him.  It was great!
They even took naps together.
More to come....

Road Trip to Redmond, WA

On our way to Washington we stopped off in Pendleton, OR to take a tour of the Pendleton Woolen Mills.  My parents have purchased a wool blanket for each grandchild from here.
They have a small museum area to view the mill and some historical things.
While we were driving into Pendleton Mark noticed Hal's Hamburgers......he scared me half to death by whipping the van into the parking lot.  He then told me this is where him mom met his dad.  Connie drove up to order a burger when she was in high school and Don was the one taking her order at the window.  So I had to take a picture of Mark where history was made.
Then we stopped of at Hamley's famous western store.  Mark's grandma used to work next door at Hamley Steak House.
Then the most exciting part was when we pulled into my parents driveway.  We pulled in around 11:30pm.

Road Trip Care Packages

We recently went on a road trip back to WA state to visit my family.  My mom sent the kids a care package for the trip.  An hour before we left for the trip we had the kids open the bags and see what Grammie-goo sent.
She sewed each of them a pillow case with their initial on it with a special pocket to hold all their fun road trip goodies.  This gift came in so handy!!!
Here are all 4 kids ready to go see Papa and Grammie-goo!
